Thomas G. Sampson, II
Thomas G. Sampson, II—known to many as “Woody”—is a seasoned trial attorney and a partner at Thomas Kennedy Sampson & Tompkins LLP, Georgia’s oldest minority-owned law firm. With over 25 years of litigation experience, Woody has built a distinguished career representing Fortune 500 companies, public institutions, and individuals in complex and high-stakes civil cases. A versatile litigator, Woody has successfully tried more than 100 civil cases across a wide spectrum of legal areas, including medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, civil rights, and consumer warranty claims. His unique ability to understand both sides of the courtroom—having served as both plaintiff’s and defense counsel in multi-million-dollar cases—gives him a strategic edge in achieving favorable outcomes for his clients. Throughout his career, Woody has represented respected entities such as the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, MARTA, Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Ford Motor Company, and State Farm Insurance, among others. His courtroom presence, tactical litigation skills, and deep understanding of both corporate and governmental legal needs have made him one of Georgia’s most trusted legal advocates. Beyond the courtroom, Woody has made significant contributions to legal ethics and public governance. Since 2002, he has served as General Counsel to the Fulton County Board of Ethics, advising on complaints, ethical violations, and advisory opinions concerning county officials and employees. He has also advised elected officials in the City of Atlanta on election law and ethics matters.
